About Liz

Where I'm from:
I was born in Columbus Ohio; I spent the first 2 years of my life in Columbus and Marlboro Mass. When I was about 2 years old, I moved to Tucson, Arizona. I spent my entire childhood in Tucson - it was a pretty nice place to grow up, although I'm happy to be out of the heat now!
After I finished high school in Tucson, I moved to Santa Cruz, CA for college. That's where I still live today!

My education and Career:
I graduated from UCSC here in Santa Cruz in 1992, with a bachelor's degree in math and a minor in computer science. After college I worked for Amdahl Corp. for almost 4 years, in their UTS division, doing Unix/C programming. After leaving Amdahl I worked for MBL Research (now defunct) for a short time, writing a high level design document for a video game. That didn't work out, so I got a job working for Premier Consulting. At Premier, I was a database web developer, programming websites that had dynamic content pulled from Oracle databases. I worked for Premier for 2 1/2 years, until I moved on to Cisco Systems, as a contractor. I was doing the same type of work at Cisco as I had been at Premier, and my contract there lasted 13 months. After leaving Cisco, I accepted a contract position at Tartan Technology, as a database programmer. My contract at Tartan eventually ended, but a week or so after that, I became an employee at Tartan; I worked there for 2 years until they too became a victim of the poor economy. After leaving Tartan, I took a couple months off to travel and visit family, then I started a contract working for The University of California as a Web/Database programmer, using Cold Fusion and SQL Server. Due to the California budget cuts, my project at UC has been cut to just a few hours a week, so I'm currently looking for a full-time position; a permanent position would be ideal, but I will also accept contract work.

Fun:
When I'm not working, I enjoy scrapbooking, rubber stamping, skiing, cooking, gardening, travelling, seeing movies, taking digital pictures, playing on my computer, snorkelling, scuba diving (although not recently), surfing the internet, and lots of other fun stuff. I hope to have more information about some of these topics, and other things that interest me, on my "Hobbies" page.

My "Want" List        I have this link here because I got so many complaints that it wasn't on my old webpage.
